I can’t keep up here and it’s not because I’m not eating tacos. I am. Quite a few, in fact. So, I thought I’d pop in and tell you about some delicious ones I ate last week.

In a way, we were celebrating. Ryan had elbow surgery earlier this month. Earlier on this day got all the bandages removed and replaced with a Flexi Cast. I wasn’t aware of these, but they are like a real cast except removable. He was extremely happy about that second part.

We decided to get cheap gas at the station across from Buc-ees in Johnstown, Colorado. Loaf N Jug has been matching Buc-ees’ prices from the beginning and I’d rather give them my business than a conglomerate from Texas. Plus, let’s face, it Buc-ees is a zoo best to be avoided in my illustrious opinion.
Cocina & Cantina is located in a tiny strip mall next to a liquor store across from both Loaf N Jug. The exact address is 30 Gateway Drive, Berthoud, Colorado. It’s called the Johnstown location so that’s a bit confusing, plus my phone’s location was in Johnstown. They’re original location IS in a big house in downtown Berthoud that opened in 2011.

This location is much newer and located right along Interstate I25. Once inside I realized it was bigger than I thought, and has a colorful vibe. It’s not a “taco shop” as I had envisioned. This Cocina & Cantina is a sit-down restaurant, as is the one in downtown Berthoud.
I love the vibrant tiles on the back of the booth seats. I’ve always liked tile art in general, and especially the lively scenes on these. Ryan had a mariachi band on his and I had the more common flower designs on mine.

They have lunch specials which is nice because in this day and age it seems lunch special are a thing of the past at most restaurant. It made Ryan’s giant San Bruno Burrito just $11.99. My street tacos were only $3.50 each, and that’s always the price whether at lunch or dinner.
Cheap Tacos in Vail? I Kid You Not
I got steak, chicken and carnitas tacos, which was one too many as they come stuffed with meat. So, I took the carnitas burrito home and turned it into a delicious breakfast burrito. Nothing goes to waste in this house.
I liked these tacos. The tortillas are good, which if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time you know that details is extremely important to me. They were definitely worth the price and I’d order them again. By the way, they have awesome Taco Tuesday specials, so hit them up on a Tuesday if you can.

Ultimately, Cocina & Cantina is a good Mexican food experience and we’d go there again.
Yum! I want to try them and I also want to step foot in a Buc-ees at least once. Don’t judge.
